FORT BRAGG, CA — Adventist Health Mendocino Coast has announced the hospital’s transition to Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR). This state-of-the-art EHR technology officially launched on Thursday, December 1, 2022, and will result in improved care pathways, access to timely communication between hospital providers and patients, and standardized workflows across Adventist Health Mendocino County hospitals and other Adventist Health facilities.
Changes will be occurring during the next few months to enhance care, improve the patient experience, and create one integrated system for retrieving patient data between the clinics and the hospital. The Cerner EHR is designed to improve efficiencies and collaboration within departments such as the ER, surgery, ICU, medical/surgical, pharmacy, oncology, respiratory therapy, lab, radiology, rehab, and patient accounting.
“In order for providers and staff to consistently deliver high-quality care, we have made a substantial investment into a modern EHR designed with patients at the center of every decision,” says Judy Leach, President of Adventist Health Mendocino Coast. “Prior to this transition, our care teams have had to use multiple different platforms to communicate and chart. This integrates patient information and care delivery into one integrated platform. We appreciate our community’s patience during the next few months as we implement new technology and continue our process improvement journey.”
The clinics have already made the transition to Cerner late last year, and this transition will complete the integration. This essential tool connects the various aspects of the patient’s documented health information and makes access to labs, x-rays, treatments, and diagnoses easily accessible to caregivers and patients. Aside from improving efficiency and collaboration, as well as patient safety, the community will also have greater access to their own health information in the future through a web portal. The web portal can also be used to communicate with providers and schedule appointments.
