Flu Clinics Offered During National Influenza Immunization Week

Date: December 05, 2022

In recognition of National Influenza Vaccination Week, Dec. 5-9, the Chickasaw Nation encourages employees and citizens to get the flu vaccine. The public health nursing team will offer the flu vaccination and the COVID-19 bivalent booster at no cost to the community at the following locations:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the flu shot for everyone ages 6 months and older, including women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is especially important for adults ages 65 and older and people with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Young children and people with disabilities are also at risk for having serious complications from the flu.

The flu vaccine takes about two weeks to become fully effective and offer full protection. Health officials recommend getting the flu shot now before the virus begins to spread in the community, schools and workplace.

Additional mobile flu clinics will be available to the public in December from 10 am to 2 pm at the locations below. COVID-19 vaccinations and the bivalent booster will also be available at these events. The bivalent COVID-19 booster can be given safely at the same time as the flu shot.

  • Dec. 8: Ardmore Health Clinic
  • Dec. 15: Purcell High School
  • Dec. 22: Emergency Operations Facility in Ada

For more information about community vaccination events, call the public health nursing team at (580) 272-1327. Employees may also schedule flu shots at Employee Health Clinics in Ada and Norman.
